Breast pumps are sometimes needed to aid in the expression of breastmilk. Not all breastfeeding mothers will need the use of a breast pump. Department store breast pumps are often found to be ineffective in removing milk from the breast as well as painful to use which could result in trauma to the breast. Women should not use or share the same breast pump due to possible cross contamination. The following locations offer hospital grade breast pump rentals, which are highly effective at milk expression and are gentle to use. Some of these locations also offer quality breast pumps for sale as well as other breastfeeding supplies. Listing of these breast pump depots does not constitute a recommendation.

         Insurance reimbursement for the rental or sale of breast pumps is highly unlikely unless it is deemed as a medical necessity.  
Medical necessity would be in the case of a hospitalized infant or mother or an infant who has been documented as not being able to tolerate any artificial baby milks (formulas).
