I began helping breastfeeding mothers in 1977 when I became an accredited volunteer breastfeeding counselor for La Leche League International. In the early '80's, I worked in a volunteer pilot program at Florida Hospital where La Leche League Leaders assisted breastfeeding mothers with on-hand help during their hospital stay. This program was one of the stepping stones to lead the way to the birth of a new profession. The first board certification exam for Lactation Consultants was held in 1986. In 1991, I worked for the Seminole County Women, Infant and Children (WIC) department of Family Services where I implemented their Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program. I began working in the office of Pediatrics Plus as a lactation consultant intern in 1995 and became board certified in 1996. In 1997, I established my own private practice in addition to continuing as Pediatrics Plus' lactation consultant. I moved to Maitland to the office of Sunshine Pediatrics in October of 2006 where I presently have my private practice office.
For over 30 years, I have served in volunteer community service and/or employment to promote, protect and support breastfeeding. I have worked with thousands of breastfeeding mothers and babies. I stay current with the latest breastfeeding research and education both by professional breastfeeding journals and attending several conferences specific to breastfeeding each year. I am a member of the International Lactation Consultant Association, the Florida Lactation Consultant Association, United States Lactation Consultant Association, La Leche League International and the United States Breastfeeding Committee. I'm also a Founder, Past President and serve on the Board of Directors of the Florida Breastfeeding Coalition.
I live in the rural south Seminole County community of Chuluota. We have two adult children, a grandson, two dogs and an abundance of wildlife. I am a Christian and love all people regardless of faith or race. I find my greatest joy in helping others.
" Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior...
that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children."
Titus 2:3-4
To put the world right in order, we must first put the nation in order;
to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order;
to put the family in order, we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right.

"Breastfeeding is the most precious gift
a mother can give her infant.
When there is illness or malnutrition,
it may be a lifesaving gift;
when there is poverty,
it may be the only gift"
